Popular actress Ha Young, who is currently seen in Netflix's top series Our Sticky Love, is going through some controversy over her family lineage. Recently, the actress has faced constant public backlash after revealing information about her family that was not well received by her fans. The controversy surrounding her family history has caused a temporary halt in her recent series activities, but the actress has bravely faced the situation and issued an apology. Even her agency addressed the statement and acknowledged that the actress was unaware of certain facts regarding her family lineage.
But what was the controversy, and what apology did Ha Young give? Let's dive into the details.

Our Sticky Love’s Ha Young: Great-Grandfather’s Japanese Ties & Apology
Ha Young, who is currently seen on the popular Netflix series Our Sticky Love, has lately been dragged into a public backlash regarding her recent statement. The actress was seen on a KBS reality show, Problem Child in House, a couple of days ago. While on the show, she talked about her ancestral lineage. She mentioned that her family has a long history in medicine and her great-grandfather Ahn Sang-ho was a medical professional. Going into depth, she talked about his studies in Japan and later practice in Seoul back in the early 1910s, which was during Japanese colonial rule.
After Young made the statement, several netizens found that Ahn Sang Ho was linked to a council member of the Daejeong Friendship Association, a pro-Japanese organization collaborating with Japan around 1916. Also, after some documents surfaced, the actress faced public outrage not only from fans but also from many others. Later, her agency issued an official statement stating that the information circulating regarding Young's grandfather was baseless.
Later, BISTUS Entertainment released an official statement with an apology, stating that their earlier statement addressing Ha Young's lineage, which was dismissed as groundless, was made without knowing the facts. In fact, indeed, there was a professional under Ahn Sang Ho who was indeed part of a Japanese pro-organization during colonial rule and apologised on behalf of Ha Young and the reports.

While the agency atoned for reacting to misinformation, the actress took matters into her own hands and wrote a heartfelt apology on her Instagram page today. She stated her heartfelt remorse about her family lineage that was linked to a painful past for South Korea. She acknowledged that she didn't know much about her family's history and its link with Japanese troops. She expressed proud gratitude towards the struggles of the liberators who fought for freedom for the nation and once again apologized for any inconvenience caused by her words.
Due to the controversy, Ha Young will not be appearing for the interview about her latest success in Our Sticky Love, as Netflix confirmed and removed her interview promo. Despite this, the actress announced her upcoming drama The Long Shot Trial alongside Taxi-Driver actor Lee Je-Hoon. The story comes with a twist and is a remake of the Japanese drama Legal V – Former Lawyer Takanashi Shoko. Her current series, Our Sticky Love, is getting quite a lot of attention from fans and is trending in the top 10 on Netflix.
