K-pop and the music industry are buzzing with recent hiatuses, contract terminations, renewals, and much more. An ENHYPEN member announces his solo venture while KATSEYE's Sophia takes a hiatus.

A lot has been happening in the K-town world. New albums, boy bands, emerging girl groups, some hiatuses, and some contract terminations—all of this has left music lovers in a stymied situation. On one hand, many artists have called off their contracts due to solo exploration, while some left the group on a temporary basis due to health issues. Some major announcements about comebacks have left fans waiting for bigger entertainment this year, and some brought a suspension with their sudden hiatus while the group was raging in success and selling out albums. Amidst this, some more interesting facts about the music buzz kept fans excited and curious about the sudden exits. Let's explore the details further.

From ENHYPEN’s mini album ‘SIN’ to KATSEYE’s Sophia hiatus: All the K-pop buzz This Year

SEVENTEEN, the popular Korean boy band, have recently renewed their contract with their agency, PLEDIS Entertainment. The announcement was made this year on the popular fan base website Weverse by the agency. Their members S.COUPS, JEONGHAN, JOSHUA, JUN, HOSHI, WONWOO, WOOZI, THE 8, MINGYU, DK, SEUNGKWAN, VERNON, and DINO will all once again resume their music and tour activities with the agency.

While some members are still fulfilling their military duties, the announcement promises CARATS (their dedicated fanbase) that the group of 13 members will resume fully once they are all done with military enlistment.

STRAY KIDS, the dynamic boy band of JYP Entertainment, also made an impactful comeback with their 8-track album, THIS & THAT, released this August. The group’s DO-IT song is raging on the music charts, and the STAY fandom is really excited about their comeback. The song has consecutively held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. They also announced their world tour that began in July 2026 till August 2026 in Seoul to kickstart the tour, and are now proceeding with Mexico, Bogotá, Colombia; Buenos Aires; and Argentina this September 2026.

ENHYPEN, another Korean boy group, announced their next instalment alongside their The Sin series. They dropped their first look, THE SIN-BLISS, announcing their six-track mini album, continuing their vampire fugitive lore vibes. While fans are excited for the album, one member of the group has officially left.

Heeseung, the singer of ENHYPEN, has announced his exit from the group and its activities, surprising fans and shocking them at the same time. The singer announced it with sheer dedication towards his solo venture while being with the same agency. This has sparked backlash towards BELIFT and support for Heeseung to pursue it with fans' support. He also announced his new stage name as Evan. So will he appear in THE SIN-BLISS as a group member this last time? Folks, we have to wait and see.

TWICE, a girl group, is one of the most popular Korean bands. The members Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu are quite popular with their singing and are one of the most influential girl bands across the world. Recently, a member of the group announced her exit from group activities and officially wishes to pursue acting. Jeongyeon recently announced her solo venture into acting after being part of the group for 11 years.

She wrote a heartfelt note about her journey and being part of TWICE and expressed her desire to pursue acting from hereon. This news has taken fans by storm and also supported the singer for her crucial decision.

NCT-127 members have renewed their contract with SM Entertainment, but recently four members announced their exit from group activities. Mark, Ten, Lucas, and Winwin have announced their exit and left SM Entertainment. While Mark, Lucas, and Winwin have exited the group and terminated their contract with the agency, Ten remains a member but could be signing with a different agency. SM announced the news on Weverse.

Saint Satine, an upcoming girl group that is about to debut this year, is currently abuzz due to a sudden member's exit. The Swedish singer Lexie Levin, who was about to debut under HYBE X Geffen, announced her exit this year. The reason for the departure seems unfathomable, yet lately quite many groups have taken a step away from the limelight due to health or personal reasons. Though Lexie is not coming as a group member, the news of her being an independent singer also remains in the shadows; or rather, will she be continuing with HYBE or Geffen?

Lastly, KATSEYE’s leader and American-Filipino singer Sophia announced yesterday that she is going on a break from her group activities. One of the most influential groups of HYBE-Geffen Records, she recently announced her hiatus to focus on her health. Another member of the group, Manon, announced her hiatus and continues to rejuvenate, while fans are curious to know about her comeback.

Many other K-pop celebs, like BTS, are making their comebacks and also enjoying their solo ventures, such as Chuu, an actress and singer, leaving her agency; Danielle being removed from NEWJEANS; and much other buzz around Korean entertainment that keeps fans on the edge, yet they have openly accepted the groups' major and minor decisions with support.
