On the verge of death, will a neurosurgeon save his wife? July's most anticipated series, The Husband, pulls at a deep grief of making the wife suffer the most when things fall apart. Earlier seen in Our Movie, the cast Namkoong Min as neurosurgeon Dr. Kang Tae Ju and his co-star Lee Seol as Dr. Ko Se Yun, the wife about to face grave danger. The series has multitudes of suspense, drama, action, and thrill, yet a sense of mystery lurks around it. The series opens on a soft note, with two people in love and embracing each other's company, but later it starts to drift apart. What happened that a simple drift turned into a nightmare for Dr. Kang? Let's explore the details of the series.

The series builds tension in its opening episode. Su Yun and Kang Tae Ju begin in bliss, but problems soon surface. Kang is devoted to helping people and avoids money-driven conflicts. He has spent his life helping patients walk again, and his studies have earned the hospital a strong reputation, even as his own life starts to unravel.

His wife, Se Yun, has been sweeping away his arrogance with all that she can. His abrupt behavior has left her aloof while contemplating a traumatic past. Being a doctor, she knows how passionate Kang is about serving people, but as the director's daughter, she wants the hospital to rely on funds that can only be secured by catering to major investors. Stuck between profession and person, Se Yun has given up, and the marriage seems to be going through a rough patch.

Kang Tae sees his wife being tortured

On the other hand, Kang is deeply devoted to his wife, but lately things are not moving as they should. A deep tragedy has left them distant, and slowly they are drifting apart. The love between the two has now brought them to simply see each other as companions rather than as husband and wife. This situation has led to divorce. Though Se Yun is reluctant to give a divorce, before it happens, things fall apart.

Drunk Dr. Kang meets his family and brother and speaks about the divorce. Though his brother has tried to reason with him since the tragedy, and he, too, wants to make it work, Se Yun seems to be living without all the affection. The doctor hires a driver to take him home, but in that situation, he blurts out something he shouldn't. He never meant to get rid of his wife, but his pain became unbearable after what happened. The next morning, things are normal, but Se Yun is kidnapped. A phone call blurted out what he said late at night, and things escalated after this.

The love that blossomed in med school

The caller tries to extract money from him, but Dr. Kang takes this as a prank. At the hospital, when his colleague tells him that she didn't turn up for her regular golf outing, Kang understands that this was not a prank. The caller once again calls him and this time demands a billion won from him. He tries to subdue him, but the kidnapper outsmarts him. At every step, he watches him and even tries to attack Kang. Kang Tae takes his in-laws' help, who hire detectives in this, but that too backfires as Se Yun is tortured as they try once again to pull this trick.

The kidnapper later tipped off the police that the doctor had given him the task to kill his wife. Though Kang tries to reason with him, the police don't listen to him. Now he takes matters into his own hands.

Both after the divorce converstion

A challenge befalls Kang Tae, who wants to save his wife. Who is this man, and why is he trying to make this hard for Dr. Kang? Is Dr. Kang really hiding something, or does someone want to avenge him? The series had a great start, and now it's getting even more intense. A caller who has gone insane and a wife who is on the brink of death—will the husband be able to save them? At the beginning, the series hints at a trauma; was it that Kang and Se Yun had a child who died, or was it a pain that left both distant?

Well, the series promises a great deal of thrills and a secret that will be revealed soon. Through the Indian lens, the series is off to a great start, but what happens next is still keeping fans on a loop.
