A journey of Da Shim from centuries past into the body of a second-lead actress marks a turning point in her new life, and a faint memory of her love enters as she tries to navigate her present. The series brings forth many elements of drama, action, and love chemistry between Shin Seo Ri and Cha Se Gye, and concludes on a hyperactive note where love conquers all obstacles. The 14-episode series bombarded fans in its first week, concluded with the highest rating of 8.4 out of 10, trended on Netflix's top 10 list for weekend shows, and continues to hold the 4th spot on the streaming platform. A lot happened when the series debuted, creating a huge stir among K-drama lovers. So let's break down every detail about the Royal Comedy series.

Shin Seo Ri is Transported by a Cosmic Event as Fame, Fate, and a Past Love Re-Enter Her Life in 21st-Century Seoul—Ending Explained
In a tragic life in the Joseon period, Da Shim enters a fictional role resembling her real life. Disoriented and filled with confusion around her, she steps into this new life and new body. Seeking clarity, she bumps into a handsome guy, Cha Se Gye, who calculates love in terms of profit and loss. This first encounter brings the two quite close (pun intended), and later, a swamp of chaos enters their lives, leading to an ultimate challenge. As the series moves ahead, Shin Seo Ri tries to live up to this new rebirth and become a stronger version of her past concubine status, leading to her death by poisoning.
Her ways are quite peculiar, and her thoughts are clear and harsh, just like a true villainess, but the story takes a drastic turn when her past re-encounters the same series of events that brought doom and love into her life. On the other hand, Cha Se-gye, a third-generation chaebol of Biojei Industries, ventures into relationships as if they were a business deal and ends up humiliating many women, thinking they are using her status to climb above. His encounter with Seo Ri brings a whirlpool of mishaps and shakes up his entire self, yet opens his heart for the first time.

Every moment and incident makes his heart flutter while Seo Ri gets glimpses of her past and a potential love for a scarred prince who found comfort and a hopeful affection for the royal maid. Contemplating whether this was just a coincidence or something recurring from the past, Seo Ri distances herself from Cha Gye for the better. The story twists into a new angle were Se Gye starts getting vivid dreams about his past life and a woman who saw him through that mask. At first, he takes it as an imagination trick, but later things start to align when the woman resembles Seo Ri.
He starts to feel magnetic towards her and puts his guard down after seeing Seo Ri's care and stubbornness to protect him. A close encounter from the past, and in the present, too, there is a man who is quietly conspiring against Cha Gye, and it's none other than his cousin Choi Mun Do. Just like the past, this brother, as King Anjong, went to massive lengths and tore apart every aspect that pulled him off his throne. In the current century, he is repeating the past and trying to win Grandpa's heart and ruin Cha's image.

Meeting Seo Ri and asking her to win Cha's heart, Moon Do plots to once again win against Cha Gye, but it's not going to happen. Seo Ri sticks to Cha Gye as a bodyguard and rescues him before he is brought to ruin. The romance and constant on-and-off tiffs between Seo Ri and Cha Gye put the series on a beautiful journey, but things are not as permanent as they seem. If the past is repeated, it will be a bad omen, so to put an end to it, Seo Ri must save the grand prince in her time to have a prosperous future.

The Past Meets the Present—and Hope for a New Future: My Royal Nemesis Review
The series was truly outstanding. The romance meeting the traditions of the Joseon period was quite a hilarious twist to the series. It's quite unusual to see that each episode has a different story, aligning with the tones of the past and present. None of the episodes were dull, and brought every aspect of the royal narrative, meeting the fast-paced Seoul love story. This mix and match was quite refreshing to watch.
Each episode depicted a story of each character's trajectory from the Joseon period to the present world. Shin Seo Ri's actual self suffered a trauma that cocooned her from her true potential. Cha Gye, on the other hand, longed for being loved even if it meant he had to ruin his chaebol status, and Moon Do wanted to be accepted in the family, but his uncle never accepted him and gave away his efforts to build a name to his prodigal grandson, Se Gye. Even Da Shim, who was mistaken for a treacherous villainess and treated like filth for her low birth, was criticized, but she rose to a royal status.

Every aspect of the drama weaves an alluring saga of love and rising from the ground to the heights of the sky. Through the Indian lens, the series is a kaleidoscope of memory where fate brings another chance to fulfill the purpose of love. To review, it's a 5-out-of-5-stars rating.
